Welcome!

My name is Melanie and I am an elementary school teacher and Reading Specialist.

Learning can be fun! I love teaching and am so grateful to be able to work with my students everyday.  Most of my teaching experience has been with older elementary students, and while I loved my time in the upper grades, I am currently teaching kindergarten part time and loving every minute!

I earned a double major in Biology and History for my undergraduate degree and then continued on to receive my Multiple Subject teaching credential with a supplementary authorization to teach middle school science.  Following my credential program I earned my Masters Degree in Reading and Language Arts and a Reading Specialist credential.

My Family

I am a wife and mother to two amazing children, a seven year old daughter and two year old son.  One challenge our family faces is dealing with severe food allergies.  I hope to provide some resources to help families manage food allergies.  Click here for more information.

Lab and Library

My hope is that this website becomes a place for teachers and families to find resources to help support children’s learning- at school and at home.  I believe that the best way for kids to practice skills and strategies is through play.  Kids can be playing while they are learning, both at school and at home.  I enjoy sharing hands-on activities and games for math, science, and literacy.

Thanks for visiting and please check back often for more ideas and information!
